Sarah Rulli obtained the Diploma in Transverse Flute at the Conservatory “L. D’Annunzio” of Pescara and the II level Diploma at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato “G. Braga” of Teramo, then perfecting herself with Antonio Amenduni at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese and subsequently with Patrick Gallois at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena and in Paris.

She is the winner in 2006 of the European Union Youth Music Competition “G. B. Pergolesi” of Acerra (Na) and in 2010 of the “Premio Musica Italia” Competition of Barletta. Her musical education is completed by collaborating assiduously with the International Youth Orchestra “F. Fenaroli” of Lanciano, with the Orchestra of the Theater “U. Giordano” of Foggia and with the Symphony Orchestra of Pescara, through which she plays under the direction of Marcello Bufalini, Bruno Aprea, Bruno Bartoletti, Donato Renzetti, Marc Andreae, Lior Shambadal.

She made her debut as a soloist in August 2008, with the Concerto n.7 by F. Devienne accompanied by the Moldavian National Chamber Orchestra, at the Vittoria Theater of Ortona (CH). This was followed by solo concerts in various national and international Festivals and scenes such as “Festival Martisor” of Kishnev (Moldova), Festival “Settembre in Musica” of Ascoli Piceno, United Nations Palace in New York (USA) with “I Solisti Aquilani”, Sala Nervi on the occasion of a private audience of the Lumsa University with S.S. Benedict XVI, Ateneu of Bacau with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau (Romania), as well as in Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Armenia, Georgia, North Carolina and South Korea.

She has performed in various chamber groups, playing with Giampaolo Bandini and Luca Lucini (guitar), Konstantin Bogino, Nicole Brancale and Eugenia Tamburri (piano), Miomira Vitas (soprano), Marco Fiorentini (violin), Maria Grazia Annesi (harp), and in Italian concert seasons such as the Chamber Season of the RomaTre University, the Concert Season of the Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra, the “Settembre in Musica” Festival of Ascoli Piceno, the European Culture Week, the Rossetti Theater of Vasto, the Fenaroli Theater of Lanciano, the Tosti Theater of Ortona, the Lumsa University of Rome.

In 2011 she graduated in Piccolo at the Italian Flute Academy of Rome under the guidance of Nicola Mazzanti. Great success for her debut, on May 7, 2012, at Carnegie Hall in New York (Weill Recital Hall) with the Concerto for flute and string orchestra by A. Vivaldi, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of the Conservatory “R. Duni” of Matera, conducted by Daniele Belardinelli.

Her love for the piccolo leads her to explore new chamber compositions for piccolo and piano, and she soon begins her stable collaboration with the pianist Nicole Brancale and with contemporary Italian and foreign composers. The piece Serra Venerdì by Enrico Blatti for piccolo and piano is dedicated to her, which she performed in its world premiere at the Teatro Comunale in L’Aquila in April 2012.

Also dedicated to her are the Concerto for flute in G, harp and strings, by the Roman composer Alessandro Cusatelli and La strada verso il cielo for flute and piano by the Abruzzese Mauro Giuliante, performed for the first time on the occasion of the Concert for the Day of Remembrance 2014, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Rome, the Lumsa University and the Pro Musica e Arte Sacra Association of Rome.

The Duo Fantasioso de Buenos Aires, a concerto for flute, bandoneon and strings by Martin Palmeri – Argentine composer and author of a highly acclaimed Misa Tango – is dedicated to Sarah Rulli and Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi. It was performed as a world premiere at the Tbilisi Music Festival (Georgia) in October 2013. On 25 December 2013 Sarah Rulli was a guest of the Yerevan State Youth Orchestra (Armenia) in a concert dedicated to Astor Piazzolla.

Her passion for Piazzolla’s repertoire led her to collaborate with the Accordion Quintet Torrefranca accordion quintet, with which she began a project that explored the sounds, rhythms and fugues of Piazzolla’s Tango Nuevo, passing through the soundtracks of Hollywood films by Morricone, Zimmer, Piovani and Rota. The project culminates in December 2015 in the album “Dreams, Love & Tango”, presented in various Italian cities and in 2017 at the International Accordion Award of Castelfidardo and at the event “Nessun parli” of the Ministry of Education, receiving wide acclaim.

Her Belgian origins often recall her in her musical career. In June 2015, Sarah Rulli represents Flanders for the opening ceremony of the Flemish Week at the Belgian Pavilion of EXPO 2015 in Milan.
