Lecce, Teatro Apollo: The Shirvani Sisters in concert: 52nd concert season of the Salento musical comrade

Great appointment with classical music on Friday 25 March at the Apollo Theater in Lecce. Guests of the Salento musical comrade will be The Shirvani Sisters, the Leila sisters on the cello and Sara on piano. The music program ranges from Beethoven to Rachmaninov, from Shumann to Rossini and De Falla.

The Shirvani Sisters are talented musicians, both born in Rome but of Anglo-Persian origin. The eldest is Leila, born in 1992, cello that moves rigorously but without any inhibition between the Baroque and contemporary repertoire. Recently Leila has conquered the general public reaching popularity thanks to the participation in the transmission on Raitre “Via dei Matti n. 0 ”conducted by Stefano Bollani.
Both graduated from London College of Music, the sisters are also very active in the field of contemporary music, have lent their sound to numerous first executions and have engraved several songs dedicated to them.
Sara, already at 11, had been the winner of the prestigious “Valentino Bucchi” competition entirely dedicated to the music of the 20th and twentieth centuries.
Leila performed with Giovanni Sollima the composition “The sound of the Falling Walls” by Enrico Melozzi, for two cello and orchestra live on Rai 5 from the Teatro Regio di Torino.
They were invited by Paolo Fresu to record the album “Chlorophyll” he produced, released in 2019 (Tuk Music). Also in 2019 Leila received the “Sinopoli Prize” from the hands of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, a recognition reserved every year to the best graduate student of the specialization courses of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia.

Both very sensitive to environmental and animalistic causes, have repeatedly joined, “armed” of their tools, performing in favor of social causes, so much so that they are often called “activist musicians”. Ideators of the project “Eco Academy in the woods”, they are currently working on the creation of an eco -sustainable center of musical excellence spread in the greenery.

Access to the theater is allowed to adults and children over 12 years of age only through the presentation of the Green Pass. The minors of 12 years can instead enter without certification.
